Departs Nottingham as free agent
Boly will leave Nottingham Forest as a free agent following the expiration of his contract, the club announced.
Analysis: Boly joined from Wolves in 2022 and made 47 appearances for the Reds across his time at the club, with his most impactful season coming in his second year when he featured 20 times in the Premier League and scored twice. The experienced Ivorian center-back also played a role in helping the club qualify for the Europa League in 2024-25 and was described by the club as an exemplary leader both on and off the pitch throughout his spell at the City Ground.
Out for rest of season
Boly will not feature again this season after being left out of the club's Premier League and Europa League squads due to a knee injury, according to manager Sean Dyche, per Sarah Clapson of the Nottingham Post. "He's injured. We took him out of the squad because we have got to bring a freshness to it.He knows, he understands. It's his knee, he was struggling a bit with it but was getting on with it and seeing if he could take it further. It's just too much at the minute so he's recovering from that. But he's been great and is a top pro."
Analysis: Boly is not going to be with the club for the rest of the season, as they decided it was better to let the defender focus on the recovery from a knee injury rather than push him to play again this season. The major storyline here is that Boly has potentially played his last minutes for the club, as he runs out of contract at the end of the season. He only featured off the bench once all season for a minute of play, so this will be a minor loss for the club.
