Signs new contract with Tottenham
Davies signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur, committing to the club for another season and entering his 13th year as a Spurs player, the club announced.
Analysis: Davies joined from Swansea City in July 2014 at the age of 21 and has gone on to make 363 appearances for the club, becoming one of only 29 players in Tottenham's history to reach that milestone. The Welsh left-back was part of the squad that reached the Champions League final in 2018-19 and lifted the Europa League in Bilbao last year, which he described as his greatest night in a Lilywhite shirt. He has captained the club on numerous occasions and reached 100 international caps for Wales in October, holding the record for most major tournament appearances for his country across Euro 2016, Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup. Davies acknowledged a difficult few months through injury but emphasized his determination to contribute in any capacity heading into the new season.
Receives second surgery
Davies has undergone another surgery on his ankle but is not expected to see an extended timetable for a return, according to Michael Pearlman of the BBC.
Analysis: Davies was set to undergo a second operation on his ankle and that has gone successfully, with the defender out of the operation Saturday. He is not expected to miss further time due to the injury, still set for a return sometime in April. However, it continues to put worries around his availability with Wales for the World Cup play-off games, currently slated to miss the matches.
